What is prototyping?

Prototyping is an experimental process where design teams implement ideas into tangible forms from paper to digital. Teams build prototypes of varying degrees of fidelity to capture design concepts and test on users. With prototypes, you can refine and validate your designs so your brand can release the right products.

Why do we need prototyping?

The main reason to build a prototype is to solve the problem of uncertainty in the early stages of product development. These uncertainties are used to determine which parts of the system need to be prototyped and what to expect from user comments on the prototype. Prototypes are also a good way to discover and resolve ambiguities in requirements. Ambiguities and incompleteness create confusion about the product being developed, and building a prototype helps explain and correct these uncertainties. Users, managers, and other non-technical project stakeholders find that prototypes can flesh out their imaginations when defining and developing products.
